Getting my M2 CLA'ed today, w00t w00t!

Sorry, I am so excited about it I wanted to share....... Boy does she need CLA. I technically have no viewfinder since the glue holding one of the prisms has come loose. It has no skin (which I am also having done). I am not excited for the few weeks I will be without her. Sigh! I guess I have to pull out my canonet or mamiya 6 (folding) out of storage. :dance: :dance: :dance:
 
I'm waiting on mine coming back from a CLA. Should only be a couple more weeks. Apparently it had never been opened since new (according to Malcolm Taylor, whose tender care she is in).
 
the Canonet and M6 should hold you over quite well until your M2 returns.. with the reworked viewfinder and new skin, it'll be a brand new camera (to you, at least).. congrats!
 
I just shipped my M6 out to DAG today as well...

this absence of a RF really makes me want to go out and get a xpan.
 
Nice! Its going to be good to know that your M2 will be dependable for many years of future service, since you're having it CLA'd now. Is the viewfinder going to be fixed or are you going to have it upgraded to an M6 (or other M) finder?
 
Came home from work to a message on the machine from Malcolm Taylor saying the M2 and Elmar are ready to come home.

I just got my M2 back from Sherry Krauter today. I had a cla, new strap lugs and had the vf cleaned. It was dim and off-color....not now. The camera is great and the vf amazing. I can't wait to go play this weekend.

Leica is back! So excited. It looks good, but I think the rf is a little off. I am going to try it out and see. New Skin, black out viewfinder fixed, and cla'ed to boot.
 
Youxin Ye has my M3 in for a CLA as I type. It's difficult being rangefinder-less, but a Canonet should be arriving any day now to tide me over. I think I officially have a problem.
 
Youxin is a good guy to work with. The wait for you will be worth it. Both your Connonet and mamiya 6 will "subtitute" just fine. Good luck.
 
From the equipment you have listed, you will be fine. btw, that's a lot of equipment there...
 
It's true, I am rich in cameras. And it's a good thing it turns out I like them, since I sort of got all of them without intending to.

I'm really looking forward to getting back a like-new M3. It was in great shape to begin with, but I expect it to be smokin' when it returns.

I have basically no Rollei experience since I've only put 2.2 rolls of film through it so far, and only developed one of those. This is the first time I have ever handled a medium format camera of any kind, so I can't compare this one to any others. I will say that every print I got back "worked" so the camera thus far appears to be idiot-proof. I used the light meter on the camera and the exposures seem to have come out correctly even though the camera's 40 years old.

Here's a shot from my first roll, with help from Richard S to make the negative scan actually look like the print:

Makes me want to pull out my Yashica Mat and load some B&W in it... If only the 120 processing wasn't so costly... :(
