Shot a roll today at ISO 200 on Neopan Acros 100 (by mistake) so decided to push it for an extra minute (Rodinal for 7mins @ 20C). Now I am getting the blacks I can live with. Guess I needed some more contrast and I forgot about pushing for it, but then it has been a while.

I find that a slight push in Rodinal gives medium-speed (Box EI100-200) films the kind of inky blacks and contrasty mid-tones that I'm after. Like you, I found bliss when I shot Neopan SS at EI160-200 and developed slightly longer. Tri-X is the only film I've tried that needs to further push to get "the proper" blacks.

I'm probably missing out on some shadow detail and whatnots, but I'd rather have a not have to spend half an hour trying to lose them again. We all know that "classic" look of black and white pictures - and getting to it with a short push in Rodinal is my easiest way.
