The lowlifes at Getty Images have done photographers yet another huge disservice by allowing free image embedding. This will now become the norm, further eroding individual photographer's protections.

If you know a Getty employee then they should be told off and shunned. If photographers were organized and brave they should march on Getty's NY and SF offices. Getty Images is evil and to #$%& with everyone who works for them.

Hi Frank, I too have no love for Getty. But, you should word your post better for obvious reasons -- you know how these things get misinterpreted. 🙂

It annoys me when I can't know who shot the image, only that it is Getty or some other company -- they want photography to be a commodity and themselves to be the brand, not the photographer.

With the embedding you do get to know who shot the image - the problem is - that's all the photographer gets - a little text that is their name - no compensation, no payment, no squat.

Sad really 🙁

Cheers,
Dave

I wish I had a dollar for everyone who has approached me over the years, asking me to shoot something for them, and when we get around to "How much are you paying for this job?" it's, "Oh, we can't pay you anything, but it will be REALLY GREAT EXPOSURE for you."

Great exposure don't pay the mortgage, put food on the table, or cloth the kids.

Best,
-Tim
