GIII + Fuji 100= NICE!

Replaced the vewfinder glass in my recently-acquired GIII, then took it for a walk. I'm REALLY pleased with the overall performance. Images seem quite crisp, and it's easy to handle, too.

I had a 12-frame roll of Fuji "drugstore" color film, and was a bit surprised at the high saturation! I had the de-saturate the picture of the building-in-progress a wee bit. Metering seems quite good, even with the non-spec 625 replacement battery for the meter.

Mundane stuff, but shows off the ability of the camera pretty well...

If you like generic Fuji 100 film, get some Fuji Reala 100 or Fuji NPS 160. Be prepared to be spoiled.

I echo the use of Reala with this camera, good stuff, you will be thrilled! This is a very nice camera and I just love the 40mm FOV.

What Vencha said. Reala is the best for saturation and contrast - Fuji's Superia 400, while decent, can't hold a candle. I'm beginning to use the Superia as a BW replacement, as it's less than half the cost and when I convert from color, it converts very well. The 160 slide film was also great, but my batch had a slight green tinge due to its being outdated, I believe.

The Canonet is a marvelous little camera and with me it gets a lot of use. More than its fair share, I'd gamble. Oh - I just got a lens hood for it because it flares a lot, and the hood I picked up on ebay is compact, rubber, collapsible and has a skylight filter attached. I bought 2.

I've said this many times before and I know I'll say it many times again. 🙂

The combination of glass of that vintage and today's films is truly a sweet spot that can't be beat! It takes the best of both of those worlds and the photos reflect it.
