Give us a sample from your FSU lenses....

Hi,

Last week, on a whim, I bought a Fed 5b with a Industar 55mm f2.8 L/D. The results, I got were outstanding. I do not understand why the FSU cameras and lenses are so maligned. Did I get lucky with my lens or are my samples representative of what Industars and Jupiters offer in terms of quality?

Let me see what your FSU lenses produce. Give us a sample.... Pretty Please!

To post a photo from flickr all you have to do is:
1 click on photo from your stream you wish to post
2 click the 'all sizes' on top of your photo
3 pick which size you want (I use med) large is too big!
4 under photo you will see 2. the photos URL. right click that & left click copy.
5 come to RFF & click on advanced reply to post.
6 See the color icon where the sun & green mtns are? left click that. Be sure when the line with the http pops up clear that out (or http will be in twice & will not work)
7 right click & left click paste. Click ok! Your image will appear. Then hit sumit reply...easy!

I've also found the 61 L/D to be a sharp lens with good contrast. The problem with it is that about half the examples I've seen have mechanical issues (irregular focus mechanisms or loose parts).

The J-12's I've seen (and I've owned a few) seem to be a little better built. My experience with the J12 indicates it does a mediocre job with color film - the color images lack a certain luster (I presume this is a function of the coatings). The Kiev versions I've seen have been better made mechanically than the LTM version. It is certainly a good lens for the money, and pleasing to use (I love the way the iris setting ring works).

If one can find defect-free examples both make acceptable lenses to get started with in my view.
