GOLDEN Pancake 7artisans 35mm F5.6

Something strange here. Their 25mm f1.8 sells for $80 but this much simpler and lower spec lens is more than double that.
I dunno, maybe the markup on the 25mm lens is their loss leader with a $5 markup, and the 35mm markup is $100 because that is all the profit (they hope) the market will tolerate.
Well, I mean.....after all....it is made to fit a Leica M....That alone should justify the price.

Actually does seem fun and interesting: Fixed f/5.6 and 35mm FL -- the equivalent of the Olympus "body cap" lens for MFT system?

What I don't like: the focus lever is in the wrong place. Seriously?

H0((# smoke, they actually listen! I was telling how those A-twins from same Seagull №734 factory are keep on popping giant lenses, which ain't too good due to VF blocking. And they did came with this better than nothing thing.

Not sure, still, if it any good for actual use, instead of "me want another lens for the list in my foot long signature".

I'm big fan and actual user of 35mm on M mount and RF. Honestly, I just don't know how I would use it with ISO 400 film on my M4-2. It might be OK on M-E 220 with ISO 80 pull enabled to have moderate shutter speeds.

Honestly, CV CS 35 2.5 II is way above this lens, even used. I sold mine for something like 250 USD and it is fair price for this lens used, IMO. It is 134 gm in weight (new or used) and tiny 35 2,5 is the lens made for practical photography with M mount cameras.

To me 35 5.6 (only) is another M mount, but not really for M mount cameras lens.
Cute goldie for my RP, where I could have ISO 50 to 102400 to deal with f5.6 only.

I'd much rather have a MS optics Perar. But much more expensive....if you can find one. Seems like a CV CS 35 a better value by far.

If in LTM.....that would be fantastic. Always want to see more diminutive lenses LTM, also for the M.

7 Artisans can make niche lenses much less expensively than Miyazaki....and probably less "fiddly". I have a MS optical 1.1 Sonnar. A genius lens in some ways, but not so user friendly.

The M4/3 25mm f1.8 is not built to a very high standard, mine as well as a few more noted on the web developed a loose aperture ring, or it even fell off. Optically it was decent. All of the M-mount 7artisans lenses are more expensive, but they may be better-made.

I kind of like it, even though I have the aforementioned Voigt 35mm f2.5. this would be fun to just slip a body + lens in my pocket. I'd like to see it on a CL/CLE.

Fixed aperture seems a bit silly IMO.

So glad I picked up a 35mm Perar in a trade (and quite a sweet one at that, I think I only "paid" about $200 for it). Shame the design couldn't be licensed / made by someone else.

YOu STOLE it.

Miyazak hand makes these things. and all surfaces are multicoated. Besides I don't think he like making mass production. He's always monkeying around with new models of niche lenses. the designs are not that complex, or so they say. Riffs on old design.

Could be, I bought a copy LNIB for $50 and had it for only about 9 months. So far seems ok, just a wee bit better optically than my circa 1964 25mm f4 Zuiko for the Pen F half frame. But the focusing scale has to be from a different FL lens entirely, absolutely zero relationship to actual distance (ie. focusing on object at 2 feet, scale reads about 10 feet). I just cannot imagine how they could make a blunder that large. On my adapted 25mm Zuiko (adapter shimmed to infinity) if I set the scale to 5 feet, and place target 5 ft. from focal plane mark, focus is within limit of error, usually right on. So with the 25 f1.8 you cannot pre focus by scale at all, something I sometimes want to do.

Supposedly a new barrel for their 35/5.6 drone lens for Sony FE. A simplified Biogon with 2 ED elements, shouldn't be bad at all.

The aesthetic is a bit over the top though...I gather that it's intended for the typical middle aged Chinese hobbyists. To each their own.

I'm very tempted. But then I do already have the 7artisans 2/35 (also pretty compact) and the Goertz Citograph 35 (also a pancake lens for M cameras).

This new 7artisans seems a bit too pricey for my taste, too.
It's 220€ here. Would it be 150€ I would have ordered it.
