I just acquired another Fujinon today. Since my usual repairperson is swamped with (my) projects, can anyone recommend a repairperson who can fix a gummy M-synch mechanism? This wouldn't need fixing otherwise, but this is a newer GL690 lens with the blade-shaped MX lever that easily gets switched to M (and the M timer - though vestigial - is gummy and delays the shot). How expensive is Marshman? It's been a while...

Thanks
Dante

Frank Marshman has been MIA for a few months. Recently both phone numbers have been disconnected. I actually spoke with him last summer and things appeared fine but I guess things can turn quickly. I truly hope he's ok. Are there any RFF-ers local to Frank?

In any case, I understand Essex can easily work on classic Fuji as the lenses are pretty straightforward. I, like you, send them to a local tech (Precision Camera Works) although he's a bit backed up as well.

Focal Point possibly. Had nothing but excellent results from them. The Leica Summar that John CLA'd was one of the best lenses I ever used afterwards.

I did recently have John at Focal Point re-cement the rear elements in the front cell of one of my Mamiya Universal lens'. It was a three element Biogon design. Mamiya/Sekor 75mm Press. Good work, and fast.

About Frank:

I did get in touch with him a short while back. He was moving his business home... closing his shop. He sent out a message that he was going to have his business fronted by someone with a retail space in his town. I caught him one day on his phone number... he picked up. He had my AE100 lens and had repaired it. He sent it back to me. That was about 3-4 months ago. Have not tried to contact him since, but he said he was going to continue with the same telephone number.

PM me if you want it. Have heard since nobody is having much luck raising him. HOpe it all settles out.

Frank did an excellent replacement of a cracked rangefinder window last June on my 645zi. No indication of anything wrong then. Hope he's ok- it looks like his craft is in high demand.

When I lived in Charlottesville, I sent all my stuff to Frank over the hills in Harrisonberg. He is a very competent repairman and a good guy. Worth tracking down.

Very recently I had Nippon Photo Clinic CLA my GL690 and 100/3.5. Very fast turnaround and they did a great job.

I also last week had them CLA my Leica M6 HM after I jammed the shutter. Also another great job. Not inexpensive. PM for the price.

UPDATE: Nippon Photo Clinic currently has my GM670 and is performing a CLA. Generally their turnaround is about 5 working days or less.
