Good used store in Manhattan?

First, get together a lot of old money from the 1950's and 1960's.

Then get a Tardis, and go back to around 1964, and get out somewhere in the vicinity of 32nd Street and Broadway in Manhattan.

You'll find plenty of well stocked camera stores, staffed by intelligent but grumpy old Jewish men that know a lot about photography.

There were so many of those great old stores too, but Olden was a particular favorite of mine...

Sad indeed that Ken Hansen closed. I've not yet been to Photo VIllage in person, but must say they are always a pleasure to deal with by phone & email.

I envy you getting to go lens shopping in NY.

I've heard that Ken Hansen still sells things privately from his apartment. He also sells on eBay. It may be worth looking him up, if you have something specific you're looking for.

PhotoGizzmo is another interesting place--mainly for large format, but he has a case of unusual things for smaller formats, and he's not very internet savvy, so the shop is not picked over by internet purchasers.

You might also look at Lens and Repro.

All of these places have to pay Manhattan rents, so they aren't cheap.

I recommend Photo Habitat. It is run by two former Ken Hansen employees, Ray and Walter.
