I just got the strap I ordered from Gordy and am very pleased with both the quality and fast shipping. I ordered the wrist/lug strap.
This guy does an excellent job of making these straps..

Lately, I've ordered a strap for my M2 too. I agree with you about its quality and the service. Mango's right, send him a picture of you camera with the strap - I did it, but he didn't put the photo in the gallery :bang: no, just kidding, I don't care. Just send him a picture, I'm sure he's happy to see where his straps go.
Best,
Marc

I just noticed how nice my Gordy Wrist Strap feels now that it is broken in a little.

These are very nice and a great bargain.

I have to admit that when I got mine I wasn't as thrilled as I thought I would be. I think partly it was that I could have made a better colour choice. Plus, it looked a little too narrow, though I didn't really have any expectation for its width.

But as I have used it, I am now really fond of it, really liking how it feels and handles. I think I may order one or two more for other cameras at some point, getting different colours and swapping them around. Once I get around to getting a good shot of my Gordy strap I'll send it to him to post on the site.

I'm very pleased with the wrist strap I bought. I agree though with others that it only gets better with time. Once the leather gets broken in you will really be glad you got one!

I'll probably end up buying a couple more since they are so well made. I'll also have totry different colors too.
I'm also going to shoot a couple of photos to send to him.

I was very happy with mine but took it to Vietnam last spring. The humidity and my sweat caused the tanning of the strap to stain my clothes quite badly.

Maybe it takes a while for the strap to cure. I dunno.

Marc -- I am happy to see where my straps go and apologies for not getting your picture up. I've gotten way behing on putting them up. I've been dealing with a mother-in-law who has Alzheimer's, which takes time, and some things get put off. I'm going to take this evening and get caught up.

Hibbs -- I'm sorry about the stains. The dyes used in the leather are about as durable as there is. Which color leather was it?

There is quite a variety of cameras that I'm posting on my Gallery so I thought I would share them here. Here are the first four cameras and a light meter. The Gallery identifies the cameras and where they are.

What a pleasant surprise, Gordon! (the picture of my camera and your strap, I mean, not the quality--after reading your thoughts here and at your site about these straps I expected and got a very good product.)
I will add my postive feelings about Gordy's Straps as well. I have had one for a while now and it is geting better with use. The camera I got it for is not my most used camera so the strap is breaking in slowly but surely. And I do want to get one or two neck straps soon. Just have to make a final choice about color and length.
Great guy to do business with and an excellent product!
Rob

Please forgive my ignorance - I've been wanting to get a pair of these cool wrist straps but am worried that my M7 may be too heavy to hang from one lug - is this a justifiable concern?

Shouldn't be. I've a Bessa R2a with triggerwinder hanging from just one lug (neck strap).

My gordy wrist strap is on an L 😛

Andy -- Not knowing how the M7 lugs are attached I can't say for sure but I would find it hard to believe the leather is stronger than the metal. I've hung 25 pounds off of one of these straps. However, I don't hang the camera very often from the strap. The strap is there as insurance.

Marc-A. -- You M2 is up in my Gallery. At last! 🙂

Here are the last two. If anyone has one of my straps and doesn't have their camera in my gallery, do send me a picture. I will promise to be more prompt. I do love seeing the variety of cameras that are hanging from my straps.

Thanks all!

Gordy

Brian, I am sure the lug on your 2-oz L is pretty safe 🙂

Gordon – my concern is that hanging a brick like the M7 from just one lug (wrist strap) as opposed to distributing its weight onto two lugs (neck strap) may cause the lug to “work itself loose” after prolonged use.

Marc-A. -- You M2 is up in my gallery

Nice surprise this morning. Thanks a lot Gordy!!
But I didn't know you would read the thread, and above all I didn' t want to put any pressure of any kind on you. I know you're busy. I sent the picture just to show you that the strap is in good company 😉
Anyway, I appreciate your concern, thanks a lot for the strap and all you do 🙂
Marc

Marc -- No pressure. It's one of those things that I kept putting off and your note prompted me into action.

Andy -- If you look at my Gallery you will see several M series Leicas and I haven't heard of any problems. (Hopefully soon there will also be an M8 in the Gallery. One of my M7 customers ordered one for his newly ordered M8.) Although a camera hanging from one lug would put twice the load into the lug, compared to a neck strap attached to both lugs, I think that the neck strap puts more lifetime load into the lug. With a neck strap the camera is hanging from the strap quite a bit. You seldom actually hang a camera from a wrist strap. It's there in case of a gravity surge to prevent the camera from falling. I do occasionally let my Leica IIIc and Zorki 3M hang when I need an extra hand but that is pretty rare. I think you would get more working of the lug with a neck strap, over time, than with a wrist strap.

I also assume that Leica has engineered the lug attachment with the same attention to sturdiness and precision that is evident in the rest of the camera. My Russian rangefinders are also bricks and I've not had any problems with them and they aren't put together near as well as the Leicas.

I hope that answers you concern.

Gordy

I'm using an old tripod-bush mounting wrist strap, but same principle applies:

I found myself carrying my Leica IIIc with comfort, thumb on the back of the camera, and two fingers along the front bottom of the camera, if at any time I let go, the strap was there around my wrist to avoid an serious impact with the ground.

I tried letting the camera swing from the strap and found this was uncomfortable as well as dangerous. It feels more normal to keep a hold of the camera. If I needed both hands, the camera went into my pocket or bag.
