I just bought a Luna Pro SBC from KEH, BGN, and what do you know, the dial is dusty as all hell.
Does anyone know if it is possible to take off the front dial and clean it out?
At least without crapping the meter.

The SBC looks like it has the same case as my Luna Pro F. I've never taken it apart, but if it's anything like earlier Gossen meters, the metal plate on the back covers several screws that need to be removed. This post appears to confirm that idea. (I'm not sure what is meant by "they are filled in with a fillewr" -- perhaps "a filler"?)

I've taken apart several older Gossens and there's nothing very tricky about it, but it's good if you can keep track of the little buttons when they fall out (as they will) when you remove the back of the case. Don't confuse the adjustment screws with the ones that hold the case together. Don't touch the galvanometer assembly if you can help it. I don't remember any wires that have to be unsoldered to get at the front cover, but it's been a while...

Good luck with it, just be careful with it. I wasn't overwhelmed with the robustness of the internal construction of the Gossen meters, so I'd consider them to be rather fragile and treat them accordingly.

Good luck with it.

By the way, where's Galt.?

Now I see it on the map. When I lived in San Francisco I remember thinking how picturesque I-5 was, with the dry hills and farmland. Then my car broke down in Weed Patch. Seemed less picturesque, except in a sort of John Steinbeck way... and I never much cared for Steinbeck.

Hes decent.
I'm more of a Faulker man.
The dirty south.

But I will have to get ahold of some small screwdrivers and take that thing apart.
Thanks for all the help, and its true, they do feel quite 'light duty'.
