O.K., I asked some questions earlier about the 75mm Heliar and 90mm elmarit/elmars and got some good answers, thanks.

So I took all the info and went down to my local shop where they happened to have one 75mm heliar on the shelf marked down 50 bucks off. Fate?.... probably :D .

Great build on this one, heavy and well damped focus ring with positive apeture stops.

Here are a few samples, some are shot testing sharpness and a couple to test the bokeh:

Way to go, Todd! I like your test shots too! Nice detail and bokeh -- I think you're gonna love this lens...

I got one too recently!! Courtesy of a fellow RFF'er... Haven't used it yet though, there's a problem with my Bessa R2 meter (doesn't turn off) so it's in the repair shop :(
Hope to have it back tomorrow!

Great samples Todd!

Congrats Todd, hope it proves useful over time. I too fell for this lens - mine is hopefully crossing the atlantic ocean sometime around....now. I bought it from a fellow RFF'er but without the hood/cap. I was wondering if you could comment on how you would feel using it without a hood (I'm more interested in front element protection than flare - I prefer not to use filters).

Robin.

Robin,
The front element is pretty close to the filter ring (43mm) I would get a UV filter at least for protection if you don't have the hood. I'm not sure about flare, I haven't used it w/o the hood yet.
