I am a long flight away from CameraQuest. Emailed Stephen Gandy last thursday evening with a query about a silver VC Meter II. He responded within seconds. I sent the funds via Paypal over the next hour or so.
The meter arrived on my desk the following Tuesday lunchtime. Wonderful. Thanks Stephen.
I know there is a bit in the forums about the VCII, but I'll just add this: I happened to have my D200 and Hexar AF in the office when the VCII arrived. It agreed with them both so closely as didn't matter (for example, the D200 sometimes went for 1/40th as against 1/30th for the VCII).
The spinning of the dials is so intuitive that hitting the optimal exposure is very, very quick. The silver matches the Silver Hexar AF perfectly. And it feels a little bit 'hefty', which is nice.
Can't wait to get it home and set it up on the M4, which is its ultimate destination.

I have both the original and the VCII and both are as accurate and consistant as the TTL meters on my SLRs.

The best camera is one that still works!
On the other side of the coin I find the ISO setting too easy to move inadvertently, it eats batteries and recently the battery cover fell off because the small and fragile retaining lugs broke. It is accurate though I agree!

I sold mine when I got rid of my IIIf's, but it was accurate and didn't eat batteries either. Maybe the 'on' button on Keith's was too sensitive or stayed on sometimes. Mine worked perfectly. Everything else I have now has built in meters and I still have my old Weston Eurometer and a Minolta Spotmeter.

Mine now looks very second hand! The battery cover is held on with a piece of electrical tape and I had to file a piece out of the side of it to get it to stop fouling the shutter dial on my Nikon S2 when I had it.
They are a very good meter I agree but I do think they are a little expensive ... my Sekonic L308S was cheaper! A bit hard to fit the Sekonic into the accessory shoe of a rangefinder though!
