i just ordered one and look forward to experiencing what it does for handling...still unsure as i don't think the handling is bad on it's own.
anyone have one already? what do you think of it?

Soap bar shaped compacts normally benefit from add-on grips.
rx100 seems to be no different.

I ordered one thinking it was molded rubber or plastic. Found out after the fact that it is apparently aluminum! Looking forward to it.

Ordered a Clearviewer yesterday - great service from Gary.
Pic of my camera with the Flipbac grip is on one of the other RX100 threads.

I have that on my rx100. They don't really help much at all for shooting. But it makes the camera much easier to hold when not shooting.
The RX!00 is pretty tiny, I'm skipping the grip as I don't think it will make any difference. Works well as is, for me.

I use a cheap after-market case and strap instead.
The leather case adds enough beef that it's easy to hold and shoot, and with the strap it has the added benefit that when I hold the camera out (with the strap around my neck) I can use the taut strap as a stabilizer. I would get the cheap case and strap over the Sony version because the cheap version that I have, has the strap attached to the case via rivets which can rotate. This allows me to use the strap as a shooting stabilizer. On the Sony case, the strap is attached to the case via stitching and so you can't use the strap as a stabilizer without stressing the stitching.

I have a Franiec grip on my RX-100. It is really excellent - well made and improves the handling of the camera significantly, and importantly, doesn't make the camera feel any larger.

why do you want to keep an rx100 and a rx1? Isn't the rx1 simply better?

Don't mean to be picky, but did you actually read the title of the thread?? It refers to having a grip on an RX100. No ref to an RX1.
