Hi all,

I just got a wicked cheap 55mm UV filter to protect the lens-cap-less lens on my GSN. I saw elsewhere that adjusting the ISO dial compensates for some filters, but the UV filter looks very clear. Should I change anything?

Thanks,

Filters have so called filter factor on them and next to it how much to compensate. That is useful to not rely on guesses. My UV filter says 0, so no compensation is needed, at least in general case (I'm novice and allow possibility that graybeardeds can pull a tip out of hat even for such a simple case).

That doesn't say anything about light transmission, only parameters of thread. As Raymond says, leave it alone.

Shoot a roll with it and see how the images come out. On some of the old Electros the meter isn't quite spot-on, so you might need to fiddle with the ISO settings anyway to get the correct exposure.
