I saw this on Ebay, set it up for a snipe and biingo! I think I did well on this one but any opinions on that? Of course I still need to actually get it but not too worried about that. Traded messages with the seller and seemed ok.

Snipers . . . .
Good deal if a fixed lens, massive RF camera is what you want. Which it clearly must be, since you paid the price for it.
Those would make fantastic landscape cameras. Really really nice - nearly large format negs from a camera small enough to fit in a medium sized camera bag. Quick like an RF, but big like a Crown Graphic.

Film is the other way
Dunno if it's the deal of the century but it's definitely a good deal. Don't forget to post some shots.
congrats!

Looks real nice and the price seems very low to me... only two other bidders. Confusing mention of a 5.6/65mm lens in the description... certainly not applicable to this camera. Maybe a remnant of the description for a previous auction of an older model?

I got the same model paid a lot more for it two years back (almost $1k i think)
fantastic camera you won't be dissapointed.
BTW what does the film counter read on the base of the camera? If its very high might account for the low price? shouldn't really make any difference in using it, just gives you an idea how much it was used before.

The film counter reads 120. Doug, I did not notice the discrepancy in the lens description. I get bored when it looks like ads are just pasted specs. Maybe that is why the auction was avoided. I did feel comfortable based on this reponse from the seller who originally had no pics in the ad, " Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I'm selling this camera for my dad. I've uploaded some pictures of the camera. The counter reads 120. The camera is in excellent condition with no scratches or blemishes. "

120? it's a baby then! GW690III has a 90/3.5 lens. A real cracker- just done some work at Angkor Wat with 100 ASA Kodak TMax. The results were stunning blew away my Plaubel Makina 670 which suprised me. The Fuji lens was a bit softer in contrast yeilding very rich tonal negs and that was having it proceessed here in Bangkok. I could get much more out of the negs if i did myself in my darkroom using PMK pyro, back in the UK, but there you go.

I'm a bit jealous, sounds like a great tool for super high-quality work. I'd kinda be interested in hearing a bit more about how you work on your negs Simon as I've just been blown away browsing through your web site.

That's an EXCELLENT price for that camera. Not a joy to use by any means with a clunky shutter, a plastickly feel to the body (but it is strong), long focus throw, and only 8 shots per roll of 120 but the results are worth it. I love mine, in fact so much I created a website just for Fuji rangefinder cameras about 4+ years ago (link below).
When last new (a couple years back) these were going for over $1200 USD and the used market was about $900-1000 USD. I got mine about 5 years ago with 27 on the counter for just over $900 USD and in mint condition (it was my first eBay auction ever). After they were discontinued for some time there the used market was over $1000 USD it seemed but has settled in a bit since. This is the best price I've seen on one for a while.
Nice snipe! Nothing wrong with that. Snipers only win if they had been willing to pay more than the others. Some do not like snipers or are pissed off when they lose because they are being greedy, want the item for cheap, and got bit in the end by being outbid (and are bitter because they would have paid more!). You will never lose to a sniper if are willing to pay more....
