Half frame Zoom lens

Do the Olympus half frame auto zoom lenses need to be mounted for the zoom function to move ? The zoom ring is locked and doesn,t move ( it is stuck at 90mm).

Lenses don't need to be mounted to work, so your zoom needs repair, at least CLA.
