Happy Day of Russia, Comrades!

hip hip Hooray!

I'll skip the cocktail though, if you don't mind.
Last time Comrad Molotov made me one of his I burned my lips and - let's be honest- it did taste a bit like petrol...

On Kholkoz across Mother Russia Our rosy-cheeked collectivised youth are indulging in the traditional sport of tossing the Zorki - Meanwhile in Ukraine....

(And note the unfortunate pioneer receiving treatment for "Zenit Shoulder")

Here's one I just liked.

Congratulations to all Russian members - you really have a lot to celebrate.

I hope my HMO covers "Zenit Shoulder"... :D
And I think with some judicious use of torches and levers we might be able to re-align the attitude of the quality control wagon.

Hello from Russia! I've spent the weekend and this holiday in Saint-Petersburg with my beloved Exakta (sorry friends, I needed to take it instead of my usual RF (Canonet), because I was going to make some portrait shots with the great Biotar 1.5/75). :)
There was sunny day and the fresh wind from the sea has the light smell of iodine. It was great!

Hope you're having a great holiday. Say hello to St. Pete for us and post a couple of Day of Russia shots when you get the chance!

Hi,

Are you stil in st. Petersburg?
I'm here for bussines until Thursday. We can meet if you like for some beers.
As you noticed it stays light until 23:00.
Great party yesterday in the city and on the Neva. I brought the Bronica rf645 for slides and the Contax T for B&W.
What a beautiful city it is.

Cheers,

Michiel Fokkema

And just to make things very plain, I was spoofing our love for Soviet RFs and my particular passion for kitsch propaganda shots from that era - NOT Russia. Never Russia! :)

Incidentally, the happy campers are actually from the DDR!

They usually tossed Beirettes!

Cheers, Ian

I've made only portrait shots of my friends during the Day of Russia celebrations.
And the camera I used was not RF.

Hello,
Unfortunately not. I've posted my message above when I've returned to Moscow already.
I'm totally agree with you that St. Petersburg is the very beautiful city. Great place to take pictures.

Regards, Evgeny.
