Hello.
I am new to rangefinders and was introduced to the whole medium format thing as well the panaroma capabilities when I picked up a Fuji gx617 recently. I have been shooting digital (nikon d200) for a while and have rembered what I loved about photograpy when I started 20 years ago after I picked up my first set of processed 6X17 transparencies. I am looking to buy a xpan or xpan2 and becides the location of the iso setting dial and being able to see the shutter speed in the viewfinder what if any other differences are there? I have seen xpan lenses that ship with a viewfinder simmilar to my gx617. What model are these for? I have seen several xpan's for sale not the xpan2 and they appear to have the rangefinder/viewfinder on them as well. Any suggestions for me, or does anyone know where ther are any clean xpan's for sale. Also can you scan the xpan film strips in the smaller coolscan Nikon scanners or do you need to use something like their 9000? I know they have a film strip holder that will work in the smaller scanners but have heard that they will only scan the area of a traditional slide frame.
Any help wpuld be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
