I was thinking of a present for my Daughter and Son-in-law and I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. This would only be an extra small present, just a fun gift.

I want to get them matching film cameras. I emailed Freestyle about their Vivitar 3800's looking for sequential serial numbers as that would just be cool, but they don't have any sequential. They looked for me.

So, I'm thinking maybe a couple Nikon F bodies. With matching lenses of course.

So, aside from all the details that could go into a gift like this, what do you guys think?

Those FT3's look cool. KEH has two of them, one black, one silver. I'm hoping to find some matching bodies, but it'll be another month before I buy anything.
Thanks.

I think the whole idea is pretty cool!
Maybe I'm reading to much into it but what about a manual Nikon F/FM whose serial number is from the year they were born? Obviously I have no idea how they old they are.
Food for thought?
Great idea. Should I buy a 2007 Leica M7 for my son now and get my daughter a 2009 Leica MP 🙂

Steve.

If you're looking for something fun and not too serious, I would say something like an OM10 or a completely auto Nikon F body would be ideal. But if you think they want to get into it more seriously, consider a body with an optional manual setting.

The OM10 could be adapted to be more serious with the Manual Adapter. Might not be the best solution in the world, but in this case it is "future-proof"
