Here is my Kiron (vivitar) 105:

first look, aside from dust, looked good:

but at closer look, the second element (ithink) from the mount:

What is it?

Worth a CLA?

Looks like "haze", should clean off. Usually happens on each side of the aperture blades on lenses.

A professional CLA will run ~$75 or so.

TY so much Brian,

Attila over at mflenses thinks it also could be cleaning fluid which leaked to inner element and dried out this way.

DO you have any recommendations for reliable affordable CLA?

best,
Charlie

I have had several lenses cleaned by Essex camera in New Jersey. They did a good job on my Nikkor 105/2.5 that was stored in Styrofoam inserts for years. The Styrofoam outgassed. All elements hazed over, came back like new.

Yes, Essex is very good. They're more expensive than some (recently they've been charging $90 for a job like that), but they're not a sole pracitioner, so turnaround times are quick (usually < 10 days) and they're easy to reach on the phone.
