HCB - The Impassioned Eye

Great documentary but I always wonder how the issue of copyright / intellectual property rights plays into uploading something like this to YouTube. On the dreaded Facebook, you have to promise you own the rights to the material you upload.

p.s. quiero comer lentejas

I got it as a Christmas (yes, Christmas) gift over a year ago; beautiful film.

I really do wish the European TV firms/companies would cease dubbing over; it's noise to those who understand both languages.

I'm still looking for the "French" version...

I have it and though I don't speak French, I would much prefer hearing HIM in his own words talk instead of some silly voice that doesn't match anything! I have no problem reading subtitles! It is a dvd, they could have made it an option!

Ugh. I paid for that documentary long ago. The only really interesting thing I learned is that he never did his own processing or prints. And I also learned the same about my personal favourite photographer, Walker Evans. Apparently. Being museum caliber famous involves two things. Coming from a well off background. And not touching your own negatives.

I learned a lot more about him from his show at ICP. Apparently he started at like 23. Also, during WWII he burried his Leica near a farm before going on the run and becoming a POW, and when he got out. He went back to that farm to get his Leica a year later. I thought that was so hardcore.
