I wonder if it really is a fully functioning digital Nikon SP camera?

If Nikon did make one, they'd probably put way too many buttons on it.

both "proposals", his "personal proposals" as their creator calls them, look very good indeed! Is his "2nd proposal" the first successful attempt to install the digital parts in a removable back? And I must say I thorroughly enjoyed the typical, humble Japanese way of presentation!

If you look closely, the attached lenses are hollow to allow for the donor digital P&S optics to fit in.
Have you all seen the Digital Leica screw mount bodies? Same thing, hollow out an oldie and stuff all the new age guts in with glue and clay.
Not exactly a digital SP... Those minox mini digital Leica and Nikon come to mind.
Here is another gent who actually went a step further with interchangeable lens/adapter in a old Leica III,

The live view zoom at 0:27 would also confirm this.

Have to say, when I first found this video (long before being posted here) I was first excited... Soon that faded to... Why? It seems a few innocent SP's have been cannibalized for this hack. What makes it even worst is these likely have guts from a 20$ camera.
P.S. Love your avatar, would make a great patch to throw on my bag

Boring, belongs to the early 2000s way of looking at the future.

Hats off to the guts and effort put into the project.
But the guy said he believe the SP to be "the best camera"...why not just leave it as is then?
