Heliar-mania

I assume it's a Bessa II? These always command a premium if outfitted with the Heliar (though still not nearly as much as ones equipped with an Apo-Lanthar lens).

Whoops,

the item was axed by the bay. Here's the relisted item number: 130197945642

It was sold for 1000 bucks.

That was a cadillac camera in it's day and the heliar can't hurt.

BTW... there are a couple of Heliar equipped early RF Bessa Folders on eBay at the moment. I don't have the numbers, but there seems to have been a lot of Bessa RF folder activity lately, plus the one here on the RFF classifieds.

People are emptying out their closets. The word is out on a few of these really special old folders.

Not surprising that Certo6 recently posted on his listings on eBay (or was it on his site) that he is too busy to take on work that needs quick turn-around.

That one's particularly interesting, because it has the 645 mask.

I find Heliars look best when they're on the long side for the format, so while a 10.5cm Heliar is a nice lens on 6x9, it's an even nicer portrait lens on 645.

And you know you want to develop that old roll of Tri-X in the camera.

I sold my Bessa II with color Heliar for over $1000 a couple of years ago. Nice camera, but just didn't work for me ergonomically.

That Prominent may be more of a historical / collector's item than a user. Based on the condition of the camera, I doubt if the RF apparatus will be of much use on this one.

it sold for just under $900 (this time!). probably not to bad a price to its collector and now owner. book price is 1000-1500 . up to $2500 w/turbo shutter

not that the book price seems to mean much nowadays in repect to many of the sort after c/rangefinder models; many are fetching much more than twice the stated book price.

top of range in its class quirky camera tho with its extinction meter
