Hello everyone, I'd like to thank you for this forum. There is some great work here, and lots of shared info and ideas. I'm glad I found this site!

I just got a Bessa R2 with the 35mm and 50mm Color Skopar lenses. I'm having fun shooting film with it. I've only used an SLR prior to this, mostly with a zoom. So the rangefinder and fixed lenses are new to me. Please check out my gallery page if you have a moment.

Thanks,

Michael, welcome to RFF and the world of rangefinders! I can see from your gallery you're doing just fine with the transition.

Several of us are new Bessa R2 owners so you have plenty of Bessa newbies for company.

Once you've settled in a bit, like maybe three days, we'll start talking to you about the unique adventures of Russian rangefinders, Canonets, Yashicas, Olympuses, and others that you will no doubt want to add to your collection :)

Cheers,
Gene

Since I couldn't find both the "P" & "7", I got a Canonet instead as my second rangefinder.:D
Welcome Michael! I'm also a newbie in rangefinder, R2, RFF, etc........:D

Well I did see a nice little Canonet 17 in an antique store, $95. The shutter was sticky, it would need some care. But I've already broke the bank with my Bessa! Unfortunately the owner has 10 other cameras and boxes of lenses left behind by her husband, who was an amateur photographer for many years.. I may have to ask her for a list of the items..

Hi Michael and welcome to the group. By the way, if you happen to get that list of cameras and lenses, maybe you could post it here first. I can always make room for one or two more in my horde....

You people are insatiable!!! :D

My solution is to spend more time scanning and posting the performance of cameras and lenses here on RFF. If you guys get to them first on EBay I stand a chance. I AM SO SATURATED! The M2 will be back soon, I tested the 105 Nikkor in LTM this weekend, Nikki's life could be a flip-photo movie, all with test rolls! But I can't think of a better way to test cameras. She outgrew her MTF dress, though.

BTW: I will be putting up one of the two DIY repaired (flood cleaned shutter,seals,VF/RF) "USER" Canonet soon. It is the one used to take the pool pics in my gallery. Will post tonight.

Welcome Michael,

You will soon find out that real men shoot with Contax I, II, or III's:)

In the interest of saving every one else's photo budget, just PM me with the list of cameras that the poor widow is trying to unload. It is the least I can do to help my buddies here on the RFF.
