Ahhhaaahahahhahahahh, excuse me for my lousy english expression, just some Bosnian here hiihihihi.......

:)

Where in Bosnia? I've visited most of the Balkan states (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Kosova, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania) but not Bosnia/Herzegovina, Montenegro or Albania. Next time, I hope!

Cheers,

R.

Did you land"under fire", like in Hillary Clinton's dream world, Roger, or was your trip a little more peaceful?

Welcome to the forum! - here we have dozens of 'fine artists', 'sh*t-hot' photo-journalists and assorted 'pro's' and wonderful engineers - that can make your 'beat-up' fifties Russian lens an 'object of desire'- do you fit into any of these categories? :D
Dave.

I've also been throughout the Balkans, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Kosovo, also Bulgaria, Greece, etc. My favorite country there was Slovenia - beautiful, friendly, not over populated, something like 2 mil. people, and the citizentry are kind and soft spoken. Besides that, it's very picturesque. I've got some pics posted taken on my XA during a winter snowstorm where I came across an Austrian-Hungarian cemetary. My uncle was in the A/H cavalry and fought down in the Balkans in WWI. My dad served in the A/H Navy on the Adriatic, and my grandfather in the A/H Marines. My other uncle served in the A/H Army, I'm sure just to round out the military services!!!

Welcome to the nut house (it means a place for crazy people). Some of us have a bad case of GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome), some are happy fondling their like new fifty year old (and older) Leicas, others such as myself figure that they're really just tools for taking photographs that proudly wear their battle scars. We chat about everything from which developer for what film to filters to miniscule mid-production changes in a particular camera model. Whatever your interests, they're all covered. We have newcomers and people who've been using Leicas for half a century or more.

A bit of modern history...

A bit of modern history...

hi, folks.

"Hello World" is a historically significant phrase-- it was the first string of text ever transmitted over a computer's modem.

I think it's pretty cool when people say that. Kind of like "live long and prosper," but nerdier, and I'm a nerd.
;)

No, not where is Bosnia: where in Bosnia? Which city/town/village?

And Oldoc: no, a nice peaceful drive in a 1972 Land Rover in May-June this year, with Frances and our 'adopted daughter' Aditi. Favourite place? Hard to say, though I have to say I have found parts of Slovenia overpriced (especially Koper). The most beautiful part for me was southern Bulgaria, though I have to say that the Julian Alps in Slovenia are pretty amazing too.

We were a bit worried about Serbia and Kosova but the people were delightful everywhere except perhaps Macedonia: slow, sullen border guards and the only squeegee merchants we saw in 7700 km, plus beggars swarming around the car. For those unfamiliar with the term, squeegee merchants try to clean your car windows at traffic lights, then demand money. As they put more dirt on the windows than they took off, I was disinclined to pay them.

Cheers,

R.
