Help me find some 120 film

Hey, all. I need some advice...

I bought a Rolleicord III a month or so ago, and it's been sitting on my shelf with no film 🙁. I'm placing an order at Freestyle for some film, and I need to know what everyone's opinions on Arista EDU 100 and Fuji Neopan Acros 100 for a slow film (I'm already getting Tri-X, so I just need something slower). Just let me know which you like better.

For developers, I have D76, HC-110 and Rodinal, so keep that in mind when you think about these films.

Well, my opinion is, with medium format, the only reason to use 100-speed films is if you're printing at 20x24 or bigger. Otherwise, I think the grain in 400 speed films is more than acceptable. And I often struggle to use slower speed films handheld, so when I'm not absolutely working on a tripod I usually pick 400 speed films. But that is just my opinion.

Isn't Arista EDU just rebranded Fomapan? It looks okay, I haven't shot any but I plan on ordering 20 or 30 rolls of the b&w. It appears kinda grainy especially when pushed but I don't mind it. And it's dirt cheap. I guess we'll see.

Hi, jump onto ebay dot com and look for Lucky B/W 120 or Shanghai, both rated at 100asa. I've used Lucky and its fine, have some Shanghai in my Yashicamat at the moment but haven't finished it. Good Luck.

Or, maybe, you'd just like some daylight depth of field options without having to resort to ND filters? In sunny 16 conditions, an ISO 400 film loaded in a leaf shutter TLR like a Rollei with a max speed of 1/500, will have your aperture stuck on f/11-f/16 all day long. Not that there is anything wrong with stopping down, but it is nice to have the choice. I suppose that in certain locations, at certain times of year, this may not be such an issue.

I love Acros 100, it's my favourite black and white film in 120 or 35mm.

I've been shooting the Arista EDU Ultra 100 for a month now. It seems to me like a Portrait film. Skin tones come out very pale and without much detail in the lighted areas. Nice film though from the rolls I've shot.

I would prefer Ilford Pan F+ if I had to choose though.
