Hi,

i just won this, and i am not sure what it is:

the lens shows Tessar 105/4.5, Compur shutter

Carl Zeiss Jena means pre-war. the lens serial number 1,76x,xxx means that it was made in the 1936. Lens is uncoated.

i think it is the Ikonta C 520/2 ?

can someone tell me what is that round thingy near the shutter dial between 1/250 and 1/25 ?

That is the lens of the brilliant finder - which would be there on the 520/2. But was a Compur shutter and Tessar a option on the 520/2? I have no idea what nomenclature they had for the non-Super Ikontas, and on the net I could only find pictures of some with Novar triplets in Derwal shutters.

hey, thanks for the quick replies. i just won this on evil bay, and that was the only picture provided.

so it is likely a 520/2 that is zone focused.

thanks

ps. why a need for a 2nd viewfinder (Brilliant VF) other than the top one ?

Some folks liked the brilliant finder better. But instead of making it a permanent fixture, Zeiss made it optional so you didn't have to pay for something you didn't want.

So it is an evil bay photo, that explains a lot. You will know for sure when you get it if you follow pagpow's advice. Enjoy it and have fun.
