Hey guys,

the buttons on the back of my battered Pen E-P1 won't work anymore. I can use the wheel for aperture/shutter speed values in either aperture prio or shutter prio mode, and I can push the review button to have a look on the very last shot I took. But that's it - no other keys will work, no wheel to review the other shots, no ISO button - nothing.

Do you have any idea what that is and how to cure it?:confused:

small update: I just emailed the Olympus customer service, let's see what they will say. Sending it to them to at first let them check what is wrong will cost 49 Euros + shipping.
So I ask them if that may be a well known issue before sending it to them.

Don't think that is a well known issue. I know plenty of people with this model and they work fine.

Sorry.

They say it could be solved with a firmware update - now let me find my usb-cable *d'oh :D

I'll report back when I found the cable and updated the firmware (if possible).

hey. Fingers crossed.
Thanks, much appreciated and needed! Well, turns out I have to wait for the cable - forgot it at my parents' place. :D:bang: Then we will see if it will work out.
Some people might also have problems with the updater software, I just read over on flickr.

:bang::mad: cable arrived - put the E-P1 on the computer and started the updater software.
it says I already have the newest firmware and nothing more happens. does not solve the problem.

I just navigated through the Olympus online repair site and if I choose button panel ("Tastenfeld" in German) as broken, the site tells me that it will cost 204 Euros :bang:

Sooo, either I send it in with that result to maybe pay that price or less if they can handle it differently. Or I send it in to at first pay 49 Euros to let them check it and tell me what's actually broken.

What do you think?

Me again, folks.

I just figured that there must be still warranty on the camera. The previous owner bought it in August 2010, so there would be warranty untin August 2012, right?

That's if Olympus recognizes transferable warranty, some manufacturers use this argument to escape from their duties.

Whom would I email about my Ep-2 in the USA?
Google Olympus .... customer service?

This is what I have done a few minutes ago. I sent Olympus an email to Customer Service.

They want a flat fee of $175 to fix anything in an EP-2 body.

Same here - but my E-P1 body is still under warranty, so I just have to pay shipping it to them (Hamburg, Germany). How about your E-P2? When did you buy it? Still got the sales receipt? 2 years warranty from purchase on - regardless what name on the receipt.
