Help on loose rangefinder coupling/control arm on Leica

I just bought this Leica M4-P off fleabay in amazingly excellent condition in its original box like it was never used.

Problem is that upon testing the rangefinder wouldn't move. I found out that the rangefinder arm has lost its tension. Is this a difficult/expensive fix?

The condition is really excellent that I'm considering sending it in for repair rather than returning it to the seller. Price was reasonable enough

Might not be expensive, but definitely difficult to get right so sending it in would be my first choice.

Others will no doubt chime in to point out why you should send it to just their preferred repair person 😉

If you haven't done repairs on Leica before then I would send it out. This should cost you to much But I would ask the repair person to look over the camera and see if he/her can find something more wrong with it. And I would ask the seller if he would pay for it or pay part of the repairs

I sold a Zeiss Ikon ZM that was drop by the post and it needed to be realigned and the buyer send it to Zeiss and I'm will pay for the repair There are some good sellers on flebay that are willing to work with buyers. So I would try to that
