I just received my X100 today. I have a strange issue that I cannot find others having. Does anybody know what this is?
The sensor appears clean - at aperture 16 there is no dust or anything:

And the OVF is also beautiful:

But when viewing in EVF there seems to be a hair or something in the EVF system as encircled by the red ring:

I know it is not fully focused - difficult to do. But I always thought that the EVF would show 100% what the sensor showed. I bought it abroad via mail so changing it is difficult (not impossible) but I am afraid it (the hair or whatever) might "wander" and render image quality useless in the end.
So what is it and where can in the camera can it be?
All help MUCH appreciated.

If it's not on the final image it must be in the viewfinder component that projects the electronic image. A nuisance. Can you detect it in the brief flash of the just-acquired image with OVF on? It probably won't cause trouble, but would be grounds for replacement or service.

yeah, it is there alright. I don't plan on using the brief review functionality and almost exclusively the OVF. Unfortunately I did not buy it from a brick and mortar shop, so it will be a hassle getting it serviced. Well, that should teach me a lesson :-(

Guess you'll need to send that back for an exchange or return. Why should YOU be bothered with dealing with service? Unless that's a much easier course of action...
You are 100% right - waiting for the seller on ebay to respond
Well, it looks like the seller is accepting a return. Not exactly a happy ending, but hopefully just a postponement of the joy to come. The camera was every inch as seductive as I hope after seeing it at Photokina.
