I am looking for information regarding date and quantity of manufacture of an LTM lens that I've had for a few years.
The lens is an f3.5/7.3cm Prominar No.72000 (Tessar type) probably made by Kowa, and resembles a short black and chrome 4/90 Elmar. The lens elements are coated. The 39mm thread is a slop type and fits the J thread in my very early Seiki Canon S-II,but the register is 180 degrees out.In a normal Leica mount the register is correct. The lens is rangefinder coupled and the distance scale is in metres. The aperture scale is the old European scale,3.5,4.5,6.3,9 & 12.5.
The lens head is removable but the very fine 34mm thread is not compatible with a 4/90 Elmar.
The serial number might suggest a prototype.
Can anyone cast some light on this lens?
