I started to scan some 35mm color negatives this morning and for some reason my Epson V500 decided to give me scans that are the same size as my 35mm negative????

This is the first time I have seen this problem and have tried changing some of the settings for the "destination" but no good. Just to print a 4x6 print I have to zoom 384%.

I didn't change any of the settings I have used for many previous scanning sessions so I don't know where the problem is.
I always scan in the "Professional" mode.
Windows 7 machine, CS5, and Epson scan software.

Please help...

Did you print them? Pixel dimensions are what matters, my V500 has always been set the way yours is now. It's set to scan 'actual size', I have to zoom in Preview (Mac) , but Photoshop opens it larger. Is your printer set to actual size or zoom to fit?

I worried about that too. That is just the size of the selected area you choose. You will get a scan and then you can change to final output size if you want to. I don't bother I scan the selected area and then crop in PSE6 to 4x6 etc.

On the V500 in professional mode it likes reset to "Original" for the "Target size" setting - very annoying. Uncheck that box and go into the drop-down to select what you really want: 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 and many others. On essentially every scan I eyeball it to make sure it hasn't gone back to "original".
