I'm hoping that someone has a shutter speed dial for my Z4K around, hopefully engraved. My shutter silk-screened speed dial is a little faded, and since I'm going to be using this one a lot, I'd like to replace it with something a little more hard-wearing. I've tried to give it a coat of nailpolish, but that just ended up making things worse :bang: Any help would be great!

Unfortunately I don't have a Zorki 4/4k. I wonder if an engraver can engrave the numbers on.

Great idea! I'm going to check into that tomorrow... But if someone turns up with a knob in the meantime, I wouldn't be disappointed!

Keep me updated on you findings tomorrow if it's not too much trouble.
If it can be done it would be kewl. Then you can apply some paint in the engravings to make the numbers pop.

Question: how the heck does the dial come off? I've taken a Zorki S apart, but never a 4!

Very similar to a Zorki S, loosen the two set screws and the dial comes off.

Beats me?
I know these are different cameras but my FED 3a appears to be glued on. I guess you'll have to take your whole top plate with ya. Just becareful not to bend the top plate. Good luck.

Hmm.... I take it that the flash-sync ring comes off first?

It's fixed on the top plate.

well, I just took the top plate off so I can also adjust the RF vertical, and I found that you can, in fact, remove the dial. Two screws from underneath the plate hold it, and the flash sync knob, on.

I have a 4K parts camera. I will look to see what the dial is like.

I dug out the parts camera and the top is apart. The speed dial is there but about 40% of the markings are rubbed off. So I don't know if it's any help. let me know John K

Thanks, but it's okay. I've tried scanning mine, and marking (from reference photos) where the dots should be. I printed it on my old, junky printer, and the alignment seems to work. Now, I just need to find a hi-res laser printer that I can print onto a self-adhesive transparancy stock with. Here's the result of my work (attached)

Do you have the Flash Sync dial for the Zorki 4k... along with the set screw? Mine is pretty torn up, and the set screw is MIA....
If you could help, that would be great!

Would like to upgrade
I don't see why a jeweler c ould not engrave it but the cost might be prohibitive

Yeah, I know a jeweller personally and I wouldn't even ask him to undertake it!
