I read somewhere that he had an 8 year turn around time on servicing cameras. I wonder if some of those cameras pictured above might be customer cameras that he did not get around to servicing. Otherwise, he just had a ton of rangefinder camera bodies.

Best,
-Tim

Those are parts cameras. Henry was ill for some time and had time to return customer gear.

I had sent him 4 lenses to overhaul before his diagnosis. He fixed one of them and shipped back the other 3--he was always very conscientious about his work and these must be parts cameras that he acquired rather than customers' cameras that he didn't get repaired.

I love shooting my Contax II but I certainly cannot fix it if something goes wrong. I hope someone with the necessary skills is paying attention.

I'm not too far but I'll be working tomorrow. There are some very aggressive pickers around here so I doubt anything will be left after today unless it is over priced.

Photo Source bought a ton of that stuff. They are just now putting g it on their eBay store. Call them directly and they will sell it cheaper. I’ve gotten several things from them in the past.

It annoys me that pickers will be at the
Estate sale.
It leaves an odd taste in my mouth when going to them...not necessary a bad one!...but I can't think of a better group of attendees at that sale than folks here! Somehow I think people like us are more "deserving". I mean, how many of those pickers ever even communicated with Henry?....how many even know who he is and why they should?

It is up to the will, the executor and sometimes the beneficiaries how things get moved. It is a strange time in people’s lives, having done it recently. It just is how it is.

Does Henry's magnificent website material still exist somewhere? I've read on other postings that Wayback Machine has it. I'm not familiar with it to figure out access. Can anyone help? His website was too good to be lost. So much wonderful Zeiss information!

Thanks for sending the website information. Henry’s information and links to articles are too good to lose. He repaired my Contax II and IIa several years ago. The II was bought new by my dad in the 30s. He lived in Madison, Wisconsin where Norman Goldberg had his repair business. I think it was called Camcraft or something like that. Mr Goldberg serviced it several times. Dad took it to Alaska in WWII. I used it during Vietnam war. Henry was a delight to do business with. He was an opinionated guy but will be missed.

I wonder if maybe Mike Eckman was able to get the website content so he can host it? I saw he hosted a few other camera websites that were valuable sources of information.
