Hi,

I've been considering to buy a new RF to use with either a 28mm or 35mm lens. I'm now considering the Bessa R4M and the Hexar RF.

I previously owned an M6 and I found that the 28mm framelines were a bit tight. I read that the magnification of the Hexar is 0.60x. I guess that makes it easy to use with a 28mm lens ? I'm not wearing glasses.

Also, what is the usual street price for an Hexar RF in mint condition ? Around 700 ?

Thanks,

Yes, easy to see the 28mm frame lines, even with specs on.

$ 600 to $ 700 sounds about right in this economy.

BTW, I haven't had any problems with the reported film to flange distance issue.

28mm framelines are much easier to see than those on a M6 .72. To my eye (eyeglass wearer) the 28 RF lines are equivalent to the 35 lines on an M6 .72. The 35 lines on the RF are perfect.

I'd probably get the R4A/M if 28 was my primary focal length.

I advise to buy a well used HRF rather than a mint in box one, that way can ask and the seller should tell you if it has developed any RF misalignment problems (earlier ones would get knocked out quite easily). The HRF is definitely a camera you want to buy knowing it's been used and rather than having been sitting in a box for the last 10+ years.

$600-650 is about right.
