How much is 50F Belgique worth?

Another funny I have to catch up on. About a month ago I ordered a lens from KEH and had a lens cap thrown in my shipment for Brett (JoeFriday). Well, for a $3 lens cap we saved Brett $12 in shipping, foolish business practices.

Well, for my seemingly effortless effort Brett sent me a care package in thanks. Actually, I think he just cleaned out one of his drawers. 😀

So Brett, thank you. My son has been spinning the top since we opened the box, with the coin I am sure I am an official member of the History Channel Club, and I have this cool redish felt Chinon Bellini to figure out. 🙂

glad you like the crap.. I mean, valuable stuff! that Chinon actually takes pretty good photos, and as you probably know, the flash even works!

no clue what the 50F is worth.. but I've got more of it, in case you find out 🙂

I've got a bunch of old money, and a box full of old deutschmark coins, maybe about 40 or 50 DM all together. and coins from all over the world! 🙂

50 francs were worth about $1.50 but don't believe that money is used anymore, it's obsolete.

Replaced by the Euro, and worth exactly € 1.2394676 because of the weird exchange ratios (1:40.3399).

Anyone thinking about handing in old coins for new better hurry up, a number of countries are already stopping exchanging old coins on 31/12/2006..

I miss the old thing of stopping at a Belgian motorway cafe and being able to pay in a mixture of whatever cash you had on you. Three different currencies? No problem! I'm sure the exchange rate was lousy but it was always fun. That and the beer vending machines by the petrol pumps were my favourite bits of trips through Belgium, oh nostalgia!

I really miss the Belgian francs too (especcialy the 50f piece, with the abstract picture of the king) , and the lower prices from before the Euro 🙄

I'm only 19 and already saying that prices where better when I was young, time flies 😀

The prices haven't changed a bit 🙁 A bread was fl. 1.99 Dutch Guilders in 2001, and it's € 1.99 Euro today.. It's only the salaries that got slashed by a factor 2.2.. 😱

I can only guess that for you guys in Belgium it must have been horrifying to see your savings account crunched by a factor 40!

Not to mention the poor Greeks, and Italians, I still use a 5000 drachma note I was stupidly using as a bookmark when they changed over

rover, that particular coin came back in my dad's pocket when he served in the Army back in 1958.. he has a small box full of coins like that.. once in a while I'll grab a couple, knowing he wouldn't know or care
