I've been getting these Voigtlander thread mount lenses for my Canon VT since they are so cheap.

I used to shoot with a 35mm lens almost exclusively because it's so easy to frame with.

Lately I've been trying to "learn" a new focal length and have moved down to 28mm. I find myself standing closer to the objects I put in the foreground in order to maintain the right amount of visual interest and cohesion.

Anyway, I am jabbering on. The point is I really like the Voigtlander 28. Here are a couple of pics I shot with an Ultron I borrowed last summer. I liked it so much I decided to get the 28mm f/3.5 version. It's really nice too.

I'm interested in what other people are doing with the focal length. It's something I've had to practice with as compared with the 35mm. Framing using the 35 is a lot like falling out of bed. Not that hard! The 28 is more work but might be worth the effort.

Jury's still out.

You show me yours and I'll show you mine... ;-)

Oh, by the way, I found a shot I took years ago with the legendary 1st generation Leica 28mm Elmarit, the one with the deep barrel. You can probably tell the Ultron is a much better lens.

These are among the first shots from my new Zeiss 28mm, so I thought I'd join the fun. I hope you don't mind. I figure on making 28, 50, and 90 my standard lens set.

I like the 28mm focal length very much, especially when used close-up for street photography. Here's a recent one taken in Sevilla (Spain) with a CV 28/3.5 mounted on a Bessa-R:

Nick,
Curious, but those are the exact same lengths I just chose. I'll be getting my hands on them next week when I get to the US: used M7, new CV 28/3.5, 50/2.5, 90/3.5. Watch this space ...

John,
Since I like using a 50 as my standard lens, it seems like a logical progression. For people who shoot with a 35 as their normal, I would try 21, 35, 75.

BTW, I think the 90/3/5 is a terrific lens

The Nicks are in agreement on this one. I like the 50mm as my standard lens and often I need wider than my 35mm so I just placed an order for the ZM 28mm. My kit will then be 28, 50, 90mm.

Oh wow! IMHO that is optical perfection. Thanks for sharing, although I'm getting a major GAS attack.

I love the 28mm FL, but that's my personal limit on the wide end.

I'll second the second on the CV 90/3.5—a gem of a lens.

Here are two 28mm images taken with a CV 28/3.5 (one of which I recently posted on my blog under the title '28mm'). Both images shot with a CLE.

I recently acquired a Hexanon 28 that I am very much looking forward to testing out.

The 90 Lanthar 3.5 is one of the sharpest short tele lenses I've used (not used that many), allegedly as good as the pre ASPH Leica Cron. More in my gallery from this gem. The following shot at F8 at nearly the closest focus of about 0.7M

Not to hijack this CCV 28mm thread, but I'll join in on singing the praises of the CV 90/3.5.

This lens gets creamy sharp near wide open:

But looks good stopped down too:

All hail the CV APO Lanthar 90/3.5!

🙂

What do you guys use to frame. I want to try 28mm, but the bessa doesnt have framelines and viewfinders are so expensive.

Oasis Live: Nagoya, Japan. I took this photo with a VC 25mm/4 lens on a Bessa L with Fujicolor 100 (bought for 50 cents).
