Got to wait for some film to be processed. Bur here goes My daily user is a Leica iif sport'in a Nikkor 28cm/1:3.5 , an obscure lens that is hard to find(I was lucky) and harder to find any info on. Anyway it's chrome ahd appears and shoots nicely on the IIf. Sometimes I have to give it a rest and mount it's big brother a Nikkor 50/2 the other lens lurching in that camera case. A fine combo in my book. What's your matchup?

IIIA + 50/3,5 Elmar. If I can't get a reasonable number of decent pictures with that I'm probably an even worse photographer than I think. The same could be said of my Retina IIa (fixed 50/2 Heligon) or any of my Ms (M2-M4P-MP-M8-M9)with any 35 or 50 lens I own.

Cheers,

R.

I have two IIIcs. One wears the same Summitar it's had since 1949. The other gets a variety of lenses: most commonly a FED 50/3.5, my Nikon L35AF 35/2.8 hacked into LTM (looks like a 35/3.5 Elmar - very compact), or a Snapshot Skopar 25/4 if I want or need the FOV.

Canon IIS2 with Nikkor-S 35mm f/3.5 using Amedeo S>LTM adapter. Leica 36mm Viewfinder for X1.

Exchange the IIS2 for a Leica IF freeing up the mount for CV 28/3.5. All interchangeable in the end.

For my IIIf a 50/3.5 Elmar and 35/3.5 Summaron, nice compact combination. Camera and lenses all dated 1951.

My usual 2 lens walkabout kit consists of CV 50/2.5 & 28/3.5 Skopars (with a CV 28mm VF) on my IIf 1/1000. Sometimes I use a Zeiss Opton 50/2.0 via a Amedeo adapter. I have other lenses too, but this is what I carry 99.9% of the time with the Barnack.

IF RD with 25 snapshot skopar for IR work
IIF RD with red scale 50 elmar for regular day to day shooting
IIIF RD with 50 summitar if i need the speed

I'm a sucker for the red dial barnack leicas

Yours sounds creative and eclectic. The term 'match-up' is growing on me. I heard it first in tennis, where it tries to get across the notion of the unique play brought about by uniting two particular players. Not sure this is the same with cameras. Anyway mine is a very specific dream combo of an early black Leica II with a nickel 11 o'clock Elmar 50 3.5.

HI,

I try to pair all my camera bodies, regardless of make and model, with the/a lens they might have been bought with; meaning a Summar on the Leica II, a Summitar on the IIIc, an Elmar... In other words, I like to have the original outfit including the meter but not the film. ;-)

Regards, David

IIIf RD/SBOOI - Coated Summitar
IIIf RD ST/Leicavit/SBOOI - Summicron (Collapsible)

Leica I, II, III, IIIc or IIIg with different types of 35mm or 50mm Elmar, Hektor, Summar, Summicron or Summaron lenses. For a more modern look I use the Cosina Voigtländer Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5.

Erik.

IIIf and J3, both 1951.
