Hi everyone,
New to this forum having just purchased an old GSN from ebay. Heard a lot of good reports, and have just seen the recent post of photos from China.. (great shots!). My question relates to the focusing of the GSN. I don't wear glasses, as my eyes are not too bad (borderline), but I was wondering if anyone has (if possible), had a diopter lens placed into a GSN? I know that some cameras viewfinders are not zero, so if it is possible, does anyone know if the GSN is zero or not! I hope this makes sense.
Many thanks

Film is the other way
you can probably find a generic diopter.. they are just magnifiers.. check the net or some camera shops.

Hi;
I have a GS and a GSN, the latter which I bought off of another RFF'er, and I like it very much. I hope that you have success with yours! You may or may not know of the "Yashica Guy" website, he has alot of usefull info about these, and other Yashica cameras. He also used to be available to ask specific questions, so perhaps he can help.

Welcome artichap,you`ll love the results from your GSN. As for a dioptor for the viewfinder, any good optometrist should be able to make one for you. Also, don`t forget to use a lens hood, cheap rubber ones work well.

i never used a hood on the gsn, and i think i never had problems from this. The design and the coating seems to do its job very well on the Yashinon.
Of course, if you HAVE a hood it's safer to use it. I just don't own anything that fits.

I, too, wear glasses and use my gsn a lot. Going from slr's to the gsn just takes a little getting used to. [strange sentence struture there..] GSN's are easy and quick to focus once you get accustomed to them. Just practice, practice, practice. I'm able to focus quicker now with my gsn than I ever could with my Nikon's. I still find vertical focussing a bit more challanging.

Welcome to the club, the GSNs are excellent cameras and a lot of fun. A refreshing change after using an SLR.
Let us know how you go with the diopter - some of us are not so young and this could explain the problem with focusing??
