High Performance Mode

I have used high performance mode exclusively after the first week with my X100 in April of 2011.

Back then it made a huge difference in AF performance.

I have only used my X-Pro 1 or XT1s in high performance mode. So I can't comment on the differences in performance.

I never bothered to compare battery life differences either. I never leave home without two batteries. I own six batteries - 5 OEM and one Watson. I travel with three. I take four batteries on gigs. I own six batteries. In high-energy consumption situations (continuous live-view operation with the Wifi Camera Remote App) I once went through about a battery an hour. In more normal situations I rarely need a second battery. However in normal situations (being a dinosaur) I use the the camera as I used my film cameras. I don't take hundreds of photos an hour nor do I spend much time reviewing images on the cameras' LCDs. I almost never use OIS.

The only issues I have with the OEM batteries are: it takes too long to charge them; and they use crude power monitoring technology so the camera battery meter does not change in a linear reliable fashion.
