Hoe do you remove a filter's damaged coating

I have a B&W 67E 090 red on which the front coating is very damaged from improper cleaning. I would like to remove what is left of the coating to make the filter usable again.

Is there a solvent the will completely remove the coating without attacking the glass or metal ring?
