Hello all, funny I am a newbie to this site and my first post has more to do with travel than photo, but everyone here seems to be pretty worldly I thought I could get some travel ideas.

Here is the question... Getting married in the fall going to Spain in the spring, which is better the Sevilla area in the south or Barcelona in the northeast?

For me Catalunya and Andalusia seemed (almost) like different countries.

I'd recommend them both, but to answer your question - What are you looking for?

Since it is a honeymoon looking for relaxation with good dose of old fashioned sight seeing. We want to play tourist.

I would love the Barcelona area, but my fiance is leaning towards the south and Sevilla. So more than likely we will be going to the south.

I would really like to take some day trips to the coastal areas though.

I've never been to Sevilla, a friend has been by himself and found it a bit boring, but people make a trip!

Barcelona is amazing no matter what your age, I've been more times than I can remember and have always had a great time. You will have to be streetwise in Barcelona though as it has high rates of petty crime.

Whichever you choose, have a great honeymoon and share some pics when you get back

Looks like you are a quick learner. ;)

Depending upon how long your trip is, consider popping east to Granada and west to Lisboa and may be even south to that odd little bastion of in-breeding Gibraltar (your Schengen visa means you can go anywhere in the EU).

PS That Gibraltar thing was in complete jest.

Barcelona is a pretty cool place to walk around in. I lived in the Bario Gotica for a while and it was then, one big movie set.

Welcome to this great forum.

Hi fratkins,

Barcelona is a beautiful city, full of life and things to do and visit (I live 300 kms in the south of Bcn and I like to go one or two times per year), but as you are saying it's a honeymoon it's better to travel to the south of Spain, a tour around Andalucia (not only Sevilla, but also Córdoba, Granada, Málaga...). My personal preference in Spain is the North: Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias, but the weather is more unestable there. Anyway, best wishes for your travel in this beautiful country :)

Hi Fratkins

I'm a newbie in the forum as well. I lived 30 years in Barcelona and I love it. But, in my experience, foreign people prefer the south. I woudn't miss Granada and, if you plan to go to the coast, Cabo de Gata in Almeria.

Cheers
