Hi all,
I have a Canada 8 element cron with the original IROOA hood. I'm curious to know what other hoods will with with this lens and not cause vignetting. I like the look of the square ones if one of those can work.

it or not, but a cheap $5 generic hood from some auction site could be an option.

i am afraid that the square one cannot stay firmly as the V1 doesnot have the notch to match with the square hood.
however, i wonder why dont you just use the IROOA hood?

The limitation of the IROOA is that it blocks some of the view by intruding into the lower right area. Leica fixed that with the 12585 hood, which is "ventilated" in a way that lets you see through the vent openings, yet is just as effective as the IROOA at blocking stray light. It's ingenious, really, and has been copied by just about everybody. One of those "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" things!

I have the 35mm canada 8 element summicron. I do like the summilux hood. I see that it has holes in which I assume are to help not completely block the bottom right of the VF?

Yes, I use that one too. It comes apart to accept a series 7 filter (not a screw-in filter) between its front and back halves. Slightly thinner (shorter) and therefore slightly less effective, but very nice.
