As an M8 owner and heavy user, I'm always worried about the hot pixel / vertical line problem.
I recently noticed one pixel causing the vertical line in under-exposed images and I'm dealing with it for the next month.
The camera is under warranty & I'll send it out but it just has to wait until the end of the semester.
Until then, I've started using the hot-pixel correction tool available in the latest version of UFRAW (I'm a Linux user)
http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/
It's quite good and the IQ of the software is good enough to get me by. No hot pixel, no vertical line after raw processing with the algorithm. That's good enough for me.
In case any of you are looking for alternatives to sending your camera back (to Leica in my case) to buy some time or whatnot, I definitely recommend the UFRAW patch. Two ports are available for Mac users as well
Others are available as well, such as Pixel Fixer for windows users.

Thought I'd pass that on, as I saw no similar threads on the forum.
