Ray has single handedly raised the level of photographic participation here at RFF. His initiative to start a critique thread has been amazingly well subscribed. He has revitalized my interest in RFF as a shooters forum. I have already participated in one. I appreciate the sincere comments and energy he invests in each of these critique threads. He's one heck of a photographer too. But I've known that for a while.

thanks Ray

Great job Ray!! I really enjoy them.

It's hard work to critique 4 other images, and then assimilate and filter input from four others who've put thoughtful effort into critiquing my work, but I think overall it is one of the most effective web/review critique methods I've seen work.

😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

Thanks, Jan. It was great to bounce ideas and chat with Todd regarding the critique threads. He kept egging me on. Thanks, Todd. And thanks to all of you who've participated in the threads. It's been a blast and a big playpen for me too.

If you've not participated in a critique thread, you should definitely give one a try.

Anything I can do to augment this already great place, I'll gladly do.

🙂

Both threads I have participated in have given me wonderful things to consider about both my own and other peoples work. Thank you very much for getting them going. I'm going to be out of town a fair bit over the next couple of weeks (mostly fun stuff 🙂 ) so with luck, I'll have some new and at least semi-interesting things for critiquing!

Many many thanks to Ray & Todd!

William

I agree totally, 100%!

Great job, Ray!

I am indescribably thrilled and happy beyond words 🙂

I created a forum to do this sort of critiqueing, but in almost 2 years, my forum could not accomplish what this one did in a few days. I think you guys hit on the right formula, and of course it wouldn't be possible without the great participants who are all willing to put in the hard work that it takes to carefully and thoughtfully compose a good critique.

This has renewed my faith in RFF and banishes the notion that RFF is just a place to talk about hardware.

I agree. Thanks to you both for creating the critique forum. I've enjoyed the one's I've been in so far and they have helped me to refocus (so to speak) on what I am doing and want to do with a camera.

Even if I'm a bit out of the world lately, I've been following the progress of the original idea, two thumbs up for Ray, and Todd !!!

Here here!!!!

I was thinking about this last night too when I say that #15 was up and going. 15, in just a little more than a week!!!

This is a great success for us, for RFF and keep in mind that all great ideas and projects have come from the members. Immediately coming to mind are our two book projects and the Pass the Rangefinder epic project. If you have an idea to accomplish something, bring it up, organize it with other members, and lets see what comes of it. I am sure it will be a success.

Isn't that "Hear, hear !" ? In the British parliament ? 😉

Nothing wrong with congrats and compliments , a big "thank you , Ray" from me too, I do appreciate this tough initiative, it is a risky idea to try to establish such a permanent platform (and keep it alive on the long run !) in a gearhead environment like RFF.
Better than all compliments tho would be to support this idea with taking part with contributions, as it looks up 'til now the project is driven by a handful of people only.
So, take part, folks, don't talk about it but put up all your terrible amateur stuff and don't let Ray down ! 😀 It's an interesting experiment and it would be a pity to see this attempt die after a while from a lack of courage or interest !
