How difficult is it to focus a 75mm summarit on an m8 / m8.2

I was thinking about buying this lens along with an m8 but I was worried it might be too difficult to nail the focus accurately since the effective focal length would be closer to 111mm. Anyone have experience using this lens an an m8?
 
great! this is exactly what I wanted to here. I was extremely impressed with the sharpness on stevehuffphotos review. the review you sent me to had some good information I didn't realize about minimum focusing distance... seems a bit far for these lenses, I'll have to give this a lot of thought.

do you (or does anyone) know of more leica photographers who use this lens on a regular basis? I would like to see more samples of this lens with an m8 / m8.2 in real world situations. unfortunatly there aren't too many photos taken with this lens on flickr.

Sorry, I don't, but if I'd not already got a 75 Summicron I might seriously have considered this lens. As it was, Frances bought the 50 that we had for review.

As to focus accuracy, I use a 75 Summilux on my M8 and it nails the focus even wide open and close. If that works, the Summarit should be no problem. You do have to watch the rangefinder closely, however.

As to your question, it is not difficult to use a 75mm on a M8.2, I just prefer the added edge of accuracy provided by the magnifier.

I use a 1.25x magnifier on my 50mm lens. At my age I need all the help I can get. :( I just bought a 1.4x magnifier for my 90mm lens.

animefx, go ahead and buy the lens. You won't have any trouble focusing it. I can actually focus my 90mm lens. I just use the magnifiers to get a better idea of what my shot will actually look like.
 
Used to shoot 75 lux wide open on m8 andnit worked out pretty good. Now shooting with m9 and it's even better.

Anyway, if 75 slux & m8 work, then summarit shouldn't be a problem either. especially if you have good eyes.

Shouldn't be too difficult, but it's not trivial either. Prefocus and move, bracket if necessary.

As a rule of thumb, the 75/2.5 is about as hard to focus as the Noctilux. The camera and lens pair needs to be adjusted well.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm not worried about using this lens any longer. Now my only difficult decision is which lens do I buy first... I've decided on a 28 2.8 elmarit asph, but the 75mm summarit vs. 50mm summicron is the decision I'm still debating. I'll probably make do with my 40mm f/2 for awhile
 
I actually prefer the 1.4x on a 75mm lens. If I am only shooting portraits, or working strictly with a 75mm lens or longer, I will leave the 1.4x on. You can definitely compose better in my opinion. Yes, you also see finer focus. You can focus and compose just fine without it...but it does make everything a lot easier at that focal length.
