How does the R4m handle a 35?

If I am to replace the M2 at Christmas, I want a permanent part of my kit, I dont want a stop gap. So will all 35's fast and slow work/focus well?

the bigger the lens the more it will intrude on the finder. how much this annoys one seems to be a personal thing.
the r4a/m cameras seem ideal for the slower, smaller cv lenses though i have read they handle faster lenses well.

Yes they will. But note what Joe says above. If you have a problem with part of the VF being obscured give it some thought. The R4 is a great camera but the widest lens I use on mine is a 28mm.

The 19.2mm EBL would be a problem, I think. The fastest 35 you would be able to regularly focus wide open would be about f1.8 or f2.

i have the CV 35/1.2 monster truck on the front of my R4M and also use it on the R2A and i have "learned" to "see through" the barrel in the viewfinder and have no problem framing my subject. it is a heavy lens but what a goer, eh? pretty much all of my CV lenses intrude somewhat in the view finder so one learns to interpolate the area of the framelines and you never go wrong. one of the anomolies of RFs.

I have not had any trouble with the 35/1.2 either on the R4a. I have not used it a lot, but I have done it. Remember the 35mm framelines in the R4 are smaller than in a .72 Leica, R2 or ZI. I have found that they CV 35/1.2 intrudes into the same amount of the 35mm framelines on the R4a as it does into those on my M6. I am guessing the window of the R4 is closer to the lens than in the M6, but the decreased magnification offsets amount of finder blocked. To my eye this is a true statement for the 28 Ultron too.
