How long does D76 really store?

I store my D76 in a 1 gal glass wine jug, stored in a cardboard box, so it doesn't get exposed to light.

It is coming up to 6 weeks now. The jug is 3/4 filled, and tightly capped.

In this state, will it store to 6 months? Or the labeled 2 months?

Are there visual indicators (i.e. does it get dark, is there more sediment)?

regards
Vick

Vickko,

Two months or less for stock.
I would use 1l. green glass bottles with soda caps, as you use up the D76 fill the bottle with glass marbles to get rid of the air. I've found a wine vacuum pump to remove the air inefficient.
Film developer storage is at best empirical, if concerned use HC110 syrup or Rodinal. No stored film developer is going to be as good as a freshly mixed batch.
What D76 dilution are you using? Full, 1:1, 1:3

Robert

Varies. I've had FULL bottles of stock last 6 months. Any discoloration beyond the coloue of VERY weak tea argues that it has gone beyond; it is no more.

D76 is particular fun as the pH cycles, leading to variations in activity.

Cheers,

R.
