I brought my M8 to my dealer for them to send it to Leica in NJ for a CLA. This was on October the 8th, 2010. I am still waiting for it. Is this normal?

Wow! For the cost of a M8 thst kind of service would have me rethinking a Leica. Is it a result of too many unreliable cameras or a 1 person service department? Years ago (about 1990) Leica USA repaired my CL and the turnaround for the estimate was within a week of sending it. I had it back in hand in less than 3 weeks including mail time in both directions.

three weeks seems quite reasonable to me. (actually, i thought it'd take longer, but there was no strong rationale for this belief.)

Last time I talked with Leica NJ in August, they told me they no longer perform film M repairs (at least the MP) so they send them off to Solms. I believe they do digital M work in the US.

Thanks all for your input. My dealer just called and it is finally returned. Apparently, they had to change the shutter.
