Hi Folks, I just received my Zorki 4 from the Ukraine. I'ts pretty good and everything seems to work but it is very tight to wind on and after about ten advances the tips of my thumb and forefinger are feeling the strain. Perhaps I need to build up some callouses. I intend to strip it down and clean everything but was interested to get some feedback on other's experiences. :(

My Zorki 4 is rather tight also. Particularly at the end of a roll. It may need some cleaning to get some of that dried grease.

I have one that is very smooth, a '56 model. No way does it ever hurt the fingers, even at the end of a roll.

I have another, acquired not long ago that was stiff as heck when recieved, made in '59. It was pretty gunked up, so after slight cleaning and lubing of the gears, take-up spindle etc., it loosened up quite a bit. But I plan on adjusting shutter curtain tension as well to see if that can help it more.

Best of luck!

edit: P.S. ~ Oh yeah, welcome to RFF, howpow! Enjoy the Zorki!

Thanks for the link CVBLZ4. I think I'll start stripping this down tomorrow. The curtains have started playing up. Under 1/250th the first curtain opens when I push the release button, and the second closes when I release it, and the slow speeds are dragging. Wish me luck!!
